Beverly Grove, in Central L.A.
New Beverly Cinema
Repertory Cinema · 7165 Beverly Blvd
A revival house on Beverly Boulevard in a building dating to the 1920s, screening from film prints, with a flat twelve-dollar midnight show on the calendar.
It is one of the oldest revival houses in the region, and the bookings read more like an argument than a schedule. Oliver Stone's JFK in the early evening and Kill Bill at midnight on the same date is a normal way for a day here to be built.
Double features are the default, paired for a reason that is usually obvious by the end of the first film. Late tickets are twelve dollars with no discounts or passes, which keeps the arithmetic simple for everyone.
Beverly Boulevard here is a low commercial stretch between Fairfax and La Brea, and the building has the shallow lobby and single screen of a neighborhood cinema from the period it was built in.
