The Importance of Being Earnest: Co-Production with the Nashville Shakespeare Festival
Saturday, February 20, 2027 · 7:30 PM · Massey Performing Arts Center, Belmont / Hillsboro
The Read
Two men invent alternate identities because telling the truth would interfere with lunch and marriage. Oscar Wilde keeps tightening the mechanism until almost every character is lying about something trivial with absolute seriousness. The jokes remain vicious because the manners remain immaculate. Nashville Shakespeare Festival takes it on in a ten-performance co-production at Massey. Give good actors Wilde's sentences and stay out of their way.
