East Nashville
Grimey's New & Preloved Music
Record Store / Venue · 1060 E Trinity Ln
Mike Grimes founded it in 2000 in Berry Hill. The basement of the 8th Ave location became The Basement. Metallica played a secret in-store the night before Bonnaroo 2008 for an audience of record store clerks and fan club members.
The store moved to a former church on East Trinity Lane in 2015: deep bins, a staff that knows the inventory, and an in-store calendar that still brings artists through who want to play for people who actually buy records. The Metallica show was released as 'Live at Grimey's' in 2010 and sold 3,000 copies its first week.
Grimey's is the record store that gave East Nashville its first real institution. The in-stores and release events they host are the closest thing Nashville has to a Rough Trade moment.
