Springwater Supper Club

Venue · 115 27th Ave N

Official site Directions

Built in 1896 to pour drinks for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, the same fair that built the Parthenon. The oldest continuously operating bar in Tennessee.

It ran as a speakeasy during Prohibition, operated as the Pirate's Den for a stretch, and was renamed Springwater in 1978. The lore says Al Capone and Jimmy Hoffa both drank here. Pool tables, pinball machines, bumper stickers floor to ceiling. Live music five nights a week.

The building predates the Parthenon replica next door. It has been a bar through every version of Nashville: the industry era, the tourist era, whatever this current one gets called. It will probably be a bar after the next one too.
