Boerum Hill
Bar Great Harry
Drinks

Twenty rotating taps on lower Smith Street, open since 2007, with pinball in the back corner and a chalkboard that changes weekly. There is no kitchen, the dog next to you belongs to someone at the bar, and the staff will pour you a taste before you commit. It closes at 4am every night of the week.

Mon to Fri, 2pm to 4am. Sat and Sun, 12:30pm to 4am

Boerum Hill
Bedouin Tent
Food

A small place on Atlantic near Bond with a brick oven by the door that turns out pita to order, which is the reason to go. Lamb and chicken off the grill, hummus and baba ghanoush, and a back garden with a few tables under a canopy. The bread arrives hot and the bill stays low, and it is open from 11am to 10pm every day of the week.

Every day, 11am to 10pm

Boerum Hill
Bien Cuit
Food

Zachary Golper's bakery on lower Smith Street, open since 2011 and built around long-fermented sourdough and the dark bake the name refers to. The case holds croissants, kouign-amann and morning buns alongside the loaves, there is coffee at the counter and a handful of seats along the wall. It opens at 7am seven days, which is earlier than anything else near Roulette.

Every day, 7am to 7pm

Boerum Hill
Café Luluc
Food

A dark narrow French café on lower Smith Street, open since the late 1990s, with a zinc-look bar and small marble tables. A back garden is behind them. The pancakes are what it is known for and they come out thick with a crisp edge, but it also does steak frites and a croque monsieur all day. It is cash only, which catches people out, and there is an ATM up the street.

Every day, 9am to 10pm

Boerum Hill
Fourth Avenue Pub
Drinks

Twenty-seven taps and a long bottle list on Fourth Avenue a few doors from Bergen Street, with a walled back yard of picnic tables that is open in the warm months. Bowls of popcorn sit on the bar. There is no kitchen, and it runs to 4am most nights. It is the closest late bar to Roulette by a wide margin.

Mon to Thu, 4pm to 4am. Fri, 3pm to 4am. Sat, 1pm to 4am. Sun, 1pm to 2am

Boerum Hill
Hanco's
Food

A Vietnamese sandwich and pho counter on Smith Street, moved up from its original Bergen Street shop, with banh mi built on a crisp roll and bubble tea in a case behind the register. You order at the counter and there are a dozen seats if you want them. A sandwich is under ten dollars and it comes out in about four minutes.

Mon to Sat, 11:30am to 9pm. Sun, noon to 7:30pm

Boerum Hill
Sottocasa Pizzeria
Food

A wood-fired Neapolitan place on Atlantic between Smith and Hoyt, open since 2012, with a brick oven at the back and a short list of pies. The margherita and the marinara are the point and the crust comes out blistered and soft rather than crisp. It is small and plain and a table on a weeknight is not a problem.

Mon to Thu, 5pm to 10pm. Fri, 5pm to 11pm. Sat, noon to 11pm. Sun, noon to 10pm
