Levittown
Calda Pizzeria & Restaurant
Food

A Levittown pizzeria and sit-down Italian place in the plaza west of the club, known locally for a spinach and artichoke pie it puts on its own masthead. Slices and whole pies at the front, tables and a full menu behind. There are two other Calda locations, at Hicksville and Massapequa, and this is one of the three rather than a chain built out of it.

Mon to Thu, 10am to 9pm. Fri and Sat, 10am to 10pm. Sun, 11am to 9pm

Levittown
Cheeks & Bean Gelato Co.
Food

A family-run gelateria on the East Meadow stretch of Hempstead Turnpike, making small batches on the premises and pouring locally roasted coffee and Long Island tea alongside it. Scoops, pints, quarts, cakes and a twelve-flavor sampler, ordered at the counter. The owner, Bob Fryer, is usually the one behind it.

Tue and Wed, 3pm to 9pm. Thu to Sun, 12pm to 9pm. Closed Monday

Levittown
Colony Diner
Food

A full Long Island diner out on the East Meadow stretch of Hempstead Turnpike, with a breakfast menu, a lunch menu, a dinner menu and an all-day menu kept as four separate things. It opens at eight in the morning and runs to one in the morning most nights and three on Friday and Saturday. It is the only sit-down kitchen within reach of the club that is reliably still serving after a late show.

Sun to Thu, 8am to 1am. Fri and Sat, 8am to 3am

Levittown
Dortoni Bakery
Food

The original Dortoni, open on Hempstead Turnpike since 1976 and still the bakery the rest of the Long Island locations came out of. Cases of Italian pastry, European tortes, American cakes, fresh bread and a savory counter, sold by the piece to whoever is standing there. It opens at seven in the morning and stays open to eight at night, seven days a week.

Daily, 7am to 8pm

Levittown
Levittown Public Library
Culture

The town library on Bluegrass Lane, and the place that keeps the record of Levittown itself. Its Levittown History Collection holds maps of the tract and the country around it, photographs from the building years, and recorded interviews with people who moved into the first houses. Anyone can walk in and read; the collection does not circulate and staff bring the material out to you.

Mon to Fri, 9am to 9pm. Sat, 9am to 5pm. Closed Sunday from May to October; Sun 1pm to 4pm from late October to early May

Levittown
Sabor a Colombia Restaurant & Bar
Food

A Colombian kitchen and bar on Hempstead Turnpike, four minutes up the block from the club, doing bandeja, whole fried mojarra, breaded filete and arepas with eggs. There is a projector going for soccer and the place gets loud on a weekend, which nobody there treats as a problem. It opens at eleven in the morning every day and runs to two on Friday and Saturday nights.

Sun to Thu, 11am to 10pm. Fri and Sat, 11am to 2am

Levittown
Spice Village
Food

An Indian kitchen and bar two minutes down Division Avenue from the club, in the low brick strip the club shares. Breads, seafood, appetizers and full plates, with a bar at the front. It is open from eleven in the morning to nine thirty at night every day of the week, which on this stretch of Long Island is the widest window anything independent keeps.

Daily, 11am to 9:30pm

Levittown
The Dawg Pound Bar & Grill
Drinks

A Levittown corner bar on Gardiners Avenue with a pool table charging two dollars a game, burgers and Philly steaks out of the kitchen, and a door that does not shut until four in the morning. It opens at noon, so it is a bar you can be in at one in the afternoon as well as one at night. Free parking in the lot, which on Long Island is the point.

Daily, 12pm to 4am
