Pleasantville
Second Mouse Cheese Shop
Shops

A small cheese counter a few doors along Manville Road from the cinema, stocking American farmstead wheels and imported ones alongside cured meat, crackers and preserves. Everything is cut to order and the staff will put a board together while you wait. It is a shop rather than a grocery, so the case is small and what is in it moves.

Wed to Fri, 10am to 6pm. Sat, 9am to 6pm. Sun, 11am to 5pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday

Pleasantville
Soul Brewing Company
Drinks

A brewery on Wheeler Avenue that makes its lagers and ales on the premises and pours them alongside wine and cider. It won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2024 and turns up in Westchester Magazine's yearly list, and neither has made it hard to get a seat. Snacks rather than a kitchen, so eat before you come.

Wed and Thu, 4pm to 10pm. Fri and Sat, 1pm to 10pm. Sun, 1pm to 7pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday

Pleasantville
The Black Cow Coffee Company
Coffee

The village coffee counter, open at six in the morning on Wheeler Avenue and busiest with people walking down to the train. Espresso, drip and pastry, ordered at the counter, with tables inside and a few on the sidewalk. The same owners run a counter in Croton-on-Hudson and one inside Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, and this is the storefront.

Mon to Fri, 6am to 5pm. Sat, 6:30am to 6pm. Sun, 7am to 5pm

Pleasantville
The Pleasantville Diner
Food

A family-run diner on Memorial Plaza opposite the train station, with booths and a menu that runs breakfast all day into burgers, sandwiches and dinner plates. It opens at seven in the morning and serves until eleven at night, seven days a week, which in this village is unusual. Nothing to book and no wait worth calling one.

Daily, 7am to 11pm
