Before
Eileen's Special CheesecakeEileen Avezzano tested her family cheesecake recipe out of her apartment and moved the business onto this corner in 1975, when the police headquarters up Centre Street had emptied out and the block was not on most maps. After
Home Sweet HomeDown a staircase off Chrystie Street into a low, dark bar that has been going since 2006, with taxidermy on the walls above cheap drinks. DJs and live sets start around ten on weekend nights. It is sixty seconds from the Bowery Ballroom door.
