Shape The Day
Before
Cafe MadelineA small cafe on Cortelyou Road that opens at seven every morning and stays on until eight at night, which is unusual this far down Flatbush. Espresso and drip come from the counter. Pastries are made on site. Order eggs if you want a plate rather than a cup. Tables fill on weekend mornings and empty out by the middle of the afternoon.
10:00 AM · Election Day School Holiday in Prospect Park
After
Peppa's Jerk ChickenJerk chicken off the drum with rice and peas and festival, ordered at a counter on Flatbush Avenue near Parkside and handed over in foil. The smoke is the first thing you notice from the sidewalk. It sits between Kings Theatre and Bar Bayeux, which makes it the one kitchen that covers both anchors on foot.
