Before
Takahachi BakeryA Japanese bakery on Murray Street run by the family behind the Takahachi sushi restaurants, selling curry bread and matcha pastries alongside drip coffee at a counter. Most of the trade is people carrying a bag back to a desk. There are a few seats by the window if you want to sit with it.

After
O'Hara's Restaurant and PubA pub on Cedar Street a block south of the World Trade Center, covered wall to ceiling in shoulder patches left by the fire and police departments that sent people here after September 11. It was buried in dust that day and reopened the following year. Pints and bar food, and the patches are the whole decor.
