Before
Billy's BakeryA small corner bakery on Ninth Avenue near 21st, going since the early 2000s, with layer cakes and banana pudding in the case and a few seats in the window. Everything is baked on the premises and sold by the slice. It stays open to eleven at the end of the week, which is unusual for a bakery anywhere in Chelsea.

After
Peter McManus CafeOpen since 1936 on the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 19th, and still run by the McManus family, which makes it about the oldest family-held bar in the city. Dark wood, a long bar, booths at the back and a burger the place will argue about. It has shown up in Seinfeld, Radio Days and Law & Order, and none of that has changed anything about walking in.
