Shape The Night

Before

Heidelberg Restaurant

short ride recommended · 6 min - Upper East Side

One of two German businesses left on the Second Avenue stretch that used to be full of them, open since 1939 and still run by a family. Schnitzel, sausage, potato pancakes and beer served in boot-shaped glasses if you ask for the big one. The dining side takes reservations but the front takes walk-ins. It is loud in a way that has nothing to do with a sound system.

7:30 PM · Greek Theater on Screen: Sophocles' Electra

After

Dublin House

short ride recommended · 4 min - Upper West Side

A long narrow bar under a neon harp sign on 79th Street, opened by the Caraway family in the 1920s and licensed as a pub since 1933. The front bar is where the regulars sit and there are tables at the back. Drinks are cheap by Upper West Side standards and it is open until four in the morning every night.
