Shape The Night

Before

Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant

Long walk · 0.6 mi · 13 min walk; 2 min ride - Murray Hill

Open on the lower level of the terminal since 1913, under Guastavino tile vaults that carry sound in odd directions. Sit at the curved counter rather than in the dining hall and you get the same pan roast cooked in front of you in a steam-jacketed kettle. The Saloon along the side is the cheaper end of the same kitchen.

7:30 PM · Kojiki de Creation

After

P.J. Clarke's

Long walk · 0.6 mi · 12 min walk; 2 min ride - Midtown East

Established in 1884, and the reason it still looks like 1884 is that the owner would not sell. A 47-story tower went up around it in the late 1960s and the original building lost its top two floors rather than the whole thing. Buddy Holly proposed to his fiancee here in 1958.
