Village East by AngelikaA 1926 building that opened as the Yiddish Art Theatre, with a Star of David set into the domed ceiling and Moorish plasterwork around it. It has shown films since 1992 and both the interior and the exterior were designated city landmarks in 1993. Seven screens now, and the largest one is the original auditorium.

The front bar is the original and the booths are worn, and O. Henry is supposed to have written The Gift of the Magi in one of them. It is open until 2am seven days a week.
