Union Square, in Manhattan
The Stand NYC
Comedy Club · 116 E 16th St
A comedy club off Union Square that also runs a northern Italian taverna kitchen, owned by a team that has booked stand-up for The Tonight Show since 2015.
Brothers Cris and Paul Italia run it with Patrick Milligan. The food and the cocktail program are a real operation rather than a two-drink minimum you sit through, which is unusual for a stand-up venue and shapes how long people stay.
That booking eye is why NBC hired them. Comics working this stage are performing in front of the people who fill late-night television slots, and the club has become a fixture between Gramercy Park and Union Square.
