Shape The Day

Before

Mottley Kitchen

Long walk · 0.8 mi · 16 min walk; 2 min ride - South Bronx - Melrose

East 140th Street gets coffee from seven on weekdays here. Pastries sit beside a short breakfast and lunch menu. It is the kind of place where people work at the tables for an hour, and it has a second counter operation nearby. Mott Haven did not have one of these until it did.

3:00 PM · Papo Vazquez "Holiday Jazz & Latin Jazz Parranda"

After

Yankee Tavern

short ride recommended · 3 min - South Bronx - Melrose

A bar on East 161st that opened in 1927, the same year as the original Stadium across the street, and has been feeding and watering the same crowd since. It is a long wood bar with televisions and photographs everywhere. The menu starts with wings and burgers. Sandwiches fill out the rest. On game days it is packed solid and there is a line on the sidewalk. On any other day you walk in and sit down.
