Bushwick, in Brooklyn

Purgatory

Rock Club · 675 Central Ave

Official site Directions

Purgatory puts punk shows and drag upstairs from a Bushwick bar filled with little alcoves, giving performers and conversation separate places to go.

This queer-owned venue on Central Avenue also hosts film showcases, markets and community events. The programming stretches beyond a conventional band calendar.

A checkerboard floor and disco ball frame the upstairs stage. There is a bar on that level too, while the downstairs seating lets you step away from the performance.
