Café Regular du NordA small espresso bar tucked onto Berkeley Place off Seventh Avenue, with a zinc-topped counter, a few stools and newspapers people actually read. It does espresso and a short list of pastry and nothing else. The name is a joke about being the northern branch of a café six blocks away.

Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda FountainA 1920s apothecary on Henry Street that sat empty for years and reopened in 2010 as a working soda fountain, with the original tin ceiling and tile floor still in it. Egg creams, sundaes and a short savory menu, ordered at the counter or at the marble bar. All ages, all afternoon.
