Porto Rico Importing Co.Pasquale Albanese started this on Bleecker Street in 1907 and the Longo family bought it in 1958. Burlap sacks of green and roasted beans line the floor and the smell reaches the sidewalk. There is a small counter for espresso and iced coffee if you do not want a pound of beans.

The Ear InnA bar in a federal-era house at 326 Spring Street that has been serving since 1817, which puts it among the oldest continuously licensed bars in the city. The neon sign reads EAR because painting out part of the B on the old BAR sign avoided a Landmarks review. It does handmade burgers, and live music fills the place three nights a week.
