Abe Katz was a police sergeant when he opened this on Third Avenue in 1964, and the family still runs it. Pastrami cured on the premises, hand-cut, piled on rye. A fire gutted the place in 2012 and they rebuilt it and reopened rather than taking the insurance and going.
