John's of Bleecker StreetJohn Sasso moved his coal oven here in 1929 and the same oven is still the only one they use. They sell whole pies and nothing by the slice, which they will tell you at the door. The wooden booths are carved half through with initials going back decades and nobody has ever sanded them.

After
The Ear InnA bar in a federal-era house at 326 Spring Street that has been serving since 1817, which puts it among the oldest continuously licensed bars in the city. The neon sign reads EAR because painting out part of the B on the old BAR sign avoided a Landmarks review. It does handmade burgers, and live music fills the place three nights a week.
