BalthazarKeith McNally opened this brasserie on Spring Street in April 1997 and it has run a French menu from breakfast through to midnight ever since. The distressed brass mirrors and the tin ceiling were built that way at the start rather than acquired with age. Bread and pastry are baked daily at the bakery on the same address.

IFC CenterA five-screen cinema in the old Waverly Theater building at Sixth Avenue and West 3rd, running new independent releases alongside a midnight series on Friday and Saturday. The midnight slot is the reason to know about it, because almost nothing else in the neighborhood programs that late. Tickets are sold at a street-level box office.
