Singh's Roti Shop & BarA family-run West Indian kitchen on Liberty Avenue since 1990, doing Trinidadian-style roti with curry chicken, goat or channa folded into it. Doubles and aloo pie are the things to eat standing up, and saltfish and bake is the morning order, which is why the doors open at five in the morning. There is a bar attached. You order at the counter and pay before you sit.

Forest Hills Station HouseA bar and kitchen by the Long Island Rail Road station with a long wooden counter, a couple of dozen taps and burgers and wings off the kitchen. It opens at noon every day and runs to two in the morning on Friday and Saturday. The crowd is local most nights and becomes a Stadium crowd when there is a show. There are booths in the back and the televisions are on.
