Kingsbridge, in The Bronx
An Beal Bocht Cafe
Irish Pub · 445 West 238th Street
An Beal Bocht combines an Irish pub's food and pints with live music, poetry and small-scale theater in Kingsbridge.
The cafe has operated since 1991, with Irish and local musicians sharing the program. Posters, photographs and rotating art exhibitions fill out the surroundings beyond the performance area.
Poor Mouth's original theater productions are part of the schedule, alongside comedy and readings. The kitchen serves Irish and American comfort food, so the stage sits within an everyday neighborhood cafe.
