Red Hook, in Brooklyn
Pioneer Works
Multi-Arts Cinema · 159 Pioneer St
Three floors of studios, exhibition space and stages in Red Hook, founded by the artist Dustin Yellin as what he called a museum of process, with most programming free.
Buckminster Fuller and Black Mountain College were the reference points: put artists, scientists and other people who make things in proximity and let the work cross over. Residencies and studios are part of the building rather than adjacent to it.
Exhibitions, performances and screenings run through the same connected spaces and the majority are free to attend. The organization states a commitment to keeping the physical space usable regardless of mobility.
