East Village, in Manhattan
Performance Space New York
Off-Off-Broadway / Experimental · 150 First Ave
Performance Space New York, founded in 1980 as Performance Space 122, has spent four decades on experimental and queer performance in the East Village.
The organization became a home for queer and radical artists shut out of the mainstream during the early AIDS epidemic, and that lineage still shapes the programming.
Work here is frequently unclassifiable by form, mixing performance, dance and installation in the same evening.
