Webster Hall brings touring bands into an East Village gathering hall whose history includes union rallies, public meetings and dances.
Architect Charles Rentz designed the original building for Charles Goldstein in the 1880s. It served the surrounding immigrant and working-class communities as a hall available for hire.
The Bowery Presents now programs the concert venue on East 11th Street. A music crowd continues the building's long habit of gathering people under one roof.
