Culver City, in Westside
Wende Museum
Cinema · 10808 Culver Blvd
A Culver City museum and archive whose calendar reaches well past its galleries: works-in-progress showings, writing workshops, a free teen festival, a monthly meditation gathering.
It describes itself three ways at once: an art museum, a historical archive, and a center for creative community engagement. In practice that last part fills most of the public calendar, and much of it is free.
The WIP series puts unfinished work in front of an audience, the Firefly Teen Festival is built as an intergenerational event for teenagers, and a wildfire survivor writing workshop asks people to write about places they have lost. A student discussion series runs with the Thomas Mann House.
