Every useful fact gets planted before somebody needs it. John McClane gets hurt, loses ground and solves problems with whatever the building gives him. Alan Rickman understands that Hans Gruber is more interesting when he barely raises his voice. Christmas decorations keep turning into props. The argument over whether it counts as a holiday film is much less interesting than how well the thing is built.

Gray's on MainThe Gray's Drug Co. sign has been on Main Street since 1952. The building is from 1876. Michael and Joni Cole restored it in 2013. Original wood floors and tin ceilings, structural timbers left exposed. Southern food, live music upstairs on weekends. The right sit-down dinner in Franklin.
