Marion Crane looks like the protagonist right up until she isn't. Hitchcock's nastiest move is not the shower itself. It is making the audience transfer its attention to Norman Bates afterward and notice, a little too late, that it has started worrying on his behalf. The Franklin Theatre has it at 11:59 on a Saturday. Some movies earn the midnight slot.

Original wood floors and tin ceilings, structural timbers left exposed. Southern food, live music upstairs on weekends. The right sit-down dinner in Franklin.
