The Blue Room
Venue · 623 7th Ave S
Jack White opened the Nashville Third Man location in March 2009. The Blue Room has a 1953 Scully lathe, making it the only live music venue in the world with direct-to-acetate recording capability.
Artists can cut one or two songs and walk out with a limited-run 7-inch on black and blue vinyl. On April 19, 2014, White recorded and released a single within three hours of the performance. Beck, Michael Kiwanuka, and dozens of others have recorded here. Third Man packs a record store, label offices, and a photo darkroom into the same building on 7th Ave South.
Blue Room shows feel like they're being made in real time, because they are. It's compact and curated, with a crowd that usually knows exactly why it came.
