Outside in Port Richmond

Four and a half acres on the Kill Van Kull at the foot of Faber Street, with a skate park, basketball courts, a playground and shaded grass, and tankers and tugs going past a few hundred feet away. The pool at the center of it opened in July 1932 so that children would stop swimming in the channel, and at 140 by 75 feet it was the largest on Staten Island when it was built. The Bayonne Bridge is the thing you look at.

Park open daily, 6am to dusk. The outdoor pool is summer only, Tue to Fri 10am to 6pm and Sat noon to 8pm, closed Sunday and Monday
