A corner slice window on Seventh Avenue South where the Nonna Maria, a grandma slice with fresh mozzarella and basil, is what people actually come for. It runs later than anything else on the block, to five in the morning on weekends. You order at the counter and eat standing.
Mon to Wed and Sun, 10am to 2am. Thu, 10am to 4am. Fri and Sat, 10am to 5am
A small triangle of park across from the Stonewall Inn that became the first unit of the National Park System dedicated to LGBTQ history. George Segal's white sculpture of two couples sits inside the railings. A visitor center opened at 51 Christopher Street, the first of its kind in the park system, and costs nothing to enter.
Christopher Park: 7am to 8pm from May 1 to October 30, and 7am to 5pm from November 1 to April 30. Visitor center: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Both are free
A cash-only bar at West 4th and Jane where the burger comes on a paper plate and the beer is cheap. There are no reservations and no table service beyond someone shouting your order. It runs to 4am Thursday through Saturday, so it is one of the few places in the West Village still cooking when a late set lets out.
Sun to Wed, 10am to 2am. Thu to Sat, 10am to 4am
Often called the oldest continuously operating gay bar in New York, and the site of the April 1966 Sip-In that established the right of gay customers to be served in a licensed bar. A griddle behind the bar turns out burgers all night. The floor is sawdust and the walls are covered in photographs nobody has taken down.
Mon to Thu, 4pm to 2am. Fri, 4pm to 4am. Sat, noon to 4am. Sun, noon to 2am
A dark bar on Christopher Street with darts and an old Ms. Pac-Man cabinet, plus couches people sit on for hours. It is the Green Bay Packers bar in New York, which on a Sunday in autumn means the place is full of Wisconsin accents by noon. The rest of the week it is quiet and cheap.
Listings disagree. One posts noon to 4am seven days; another posts 3pm to 4am on weekdays and 2pm to 4am on weekends. The 4am close is consistent across both
The original 1996 shop on the Bleecker and West 11th corner, small enough that the line goes out onto the sidewalk most evenings. The banana pudding is what the counter is built around and it is sold by the cup to go. You order, you pay, you leave with it.
Mon to Thu and Sun, 9:30am to 10pm. Fri and Sat, 9:30am to 11pm
A basement bar on Grove Street where a piano player works through show tunes and the whole place sings along, whether or not you know the words. Drinks are cheap and the crowd is a mix of Broadway people and anyone who wandered down the steps. It runs until 4am every night of the week.
Every day, 4pm to 4am
Open on Christopher Street since 1895 and run by the Wong family since 1980. Glass jars and brass scoops sit along the counter, burlap sacks fill the floor, and the blends carry the names of customers who used to come in, including one named for Katharine Hepburn. You buy by the weight rather than by the cup.
Mon to Sat, 10am to 7pm. Sun, 11am to 5pm
The Christopher Street pier, rebuilt as a lawn and a boardwalk that runs 850 feet into the Hudson. People sunbathe on the grass in the afternoon and the west-facing end is where the sunset is. It is the closest open water to the West Village stages.
Hudson River Park operates a 1am curfew across the park. The lawn and the pier itself are open daylight hours
A corner bookshop on West 10th and Waverly, open since 1978, back in its original corner since 2022 after the building was renovated. The stock is small and hand-picked and the staff will actually talk to you about it. You can be in and out in ten minutes or stay for an hour.
Mon to Sat, 10am to 7pm. Sun, noon to 7pm
Open on the Hudson Street corner since 1880, with the carved horse heads and the long dark bar still in place. Dylan Thomas drank his last here and the tavern has never once stopped mentioning it. It changed hands in 2019 and the fittings, the layout and the beer-and-a-shot pricing survived the handover.
Mon to Wed, noon to midnight. Thu to Sat, noon to about 3:30am. Sun, 11am to midnight
