A 1920s bank building on Mamaroneck Avenue that the county arts council turned into a gallery, keeping the marble and the vaulted ceiling. Exhibitions change a few times a year and lean toward regional artists rather than blue-chip names. Admission is free and nobody expects you to stay an hour.
Tue to Fri, 12pm to 5pm. Sat, 12pm to 6pm. Closed Sun and Mon
A big open library on Martine Avenue with a café inside it, a gallery that hangs local work and a trove of Westchester local history on the upper floor. There are tables you can sit at for an hour without buying anything and a program calendar that runs author talks and film screenings. The children's library is genuinely one of the better ones in the county.
Mon to Thu, 10am to 9pm. Fri and Sat, 10am to 6pm. Sun, 1pm to 5pm
