Hanco'sA Vietnamese sandwich and pho counter on Smith Street, moved up from its original Bergen Street shop, with banh mi built on a crisp roll and bubble tea in a case behind the register. You order at the counter and there are a dozen seats if you want them. A sandwich is under ten dollars and it comes out in about four minutes.

Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda FountainA 1920s apothecary on Henry Street that sat empty for years and reopened in 2010 as a working soda fountain, with the original tin ceiling and tile floor still in it. Egg creams, sundaes and a short savory menu, ordered at the counter or at the marble bar. All ages, all afternoon.
