Keith McNally took it over in 2008 and reopened it the following year as a French bistro built around dry-aged beef.

Julius'Often called the oldest continuously operating gay bar in New York, and the site of the April 1966 Sip-In that established the right of gay customers to be served in a licensed bar. A griddle behind the bar turns out burgers all night. The floor is sawdust and the walls are covered in photographs nobody has taken down.
