Cobble Hill, in Brooklyn
Cobble Hill Cinemas
Arthouse Cinema · 265 Court St
A five-screen theater at Court and Butler that opened in 1926 as the single-screen Lido, still independently owned and still running first-run films.
The splitting happened in stages: two screens in 1982, three in 1988, then two more upstairs in 1991. The Art Deco detailing inside is a later imitation rather than original to the building.
Harvey Elgart owns it, and his son Noah owns Williamsburg Cinemas, so the two theaters amount to a small family operation spread across the borough. Capacity across the five screens comes to 635.
