A painted zodiac stretches above the audience at Bridges Auditorium, Pomona College's large stage for touring music, comedy, dance and public talks.
William Templeton Johnson designed the building, which was dedicated in 1931. Its entrance draws on Northern Italian Renaissance architecture, with arches, white columns and massive wooden doors leading into a marble-columned foyer.
Giovanni Smeraldi created the blue, silver and gold ceiling. The balcony has no posts blocking the view, and the performance history ranges from Marian Anderson and Ella Fitzgerald to Steve Martin.
