Bedford-Stuyvesant
Herbert Von King Park
Outside
One of the first parks the City of Brooklyn ever laid out, on land taken in 1857 and built between 1870 and 1871 to an Olmsted and Vaux plan. It was Tompkins Park until it was renamed for Herbert Von King, a community leader people called the mayor of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The amphitheater in the middle carries free performances through the summer.
Open 6am to 1am daily. The cultural arts center inside keeps its own shorter hours
